If you're new to The Villages, here's the single best thing to know about this town: there is free live music every single night of the year. Rain plans happen, holidays happen, but the squares almost never go quiet. No tickets, no cover, no reservations. You bring a chair or you dance, and that's the whole deal.

Here's the scoop on where the music is, when it starts, and how to do a square night right.

The squares with nightly live music

Spanish Springs Town Square

The original. The north-end square has a classic small-town feel, and the lineup leans variety: rock and blues bands, brass and jazz acts like Bourbon Street Brass, and family-friendly favorites like the Zee-R Band. Check the Spanish Springs schedule for tonight's act.

Lake Sumter Landing Market Square

The waterfront one. Patio tables by the water fill up fast once the band kicks in, so eat early and drift toward the stage. Longtime Villages favorites like Rocky and The Rollers, 27 years playing here and still packing the square, turn up regularly. Live lineup: Lake Sumter Landing schedule.

Brownwood Paddock Square

The south-end square with the most range, from big band nights like Swing Theory to full-on DJ dance parties (CLUB CTRL with DJ Lu-S). Saturday mornings it also hosts the Brownwood Farmers Market, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in summer. Go early, before the produce wilts and so do you.

Sawgrass Grove & Eastport

The newer south-side venues round out the five outdoor stages, with acoustic trios, eclectic bands out of Ocala, and homegrown Villages acts. If you live down south, these are your backyard shows.

Regular hours: 5 to 9 p.m. nightly.
Summer hours: 6 to 10 p.m., shifted later to dodge the afternoon heat and storms (in 2026 the summer schedule ran into late September).
Happy hour at the square bar huts still runs 5 to 6 p.m. in summer, so you get dinner and a drink before the first song.

SUSAN'S TIP

Park the golf cart early on Friday and Saturday nights, grab a patio table on the square for dinner, and you'll have front-row seats when the band starts. Waterfront tables at Lake Sumter go first. Trust me on this one.
